Connie Hedegaard

Connie Hedegaard is a distinguished leader in climate policy and sustainable development. She currently serves as the Chair of several influential boards, including the EU Commission’s Mission Board on Adaptation to Climate Change, the KR Foundation, and Denmark’s green think tank, CONCITO. Additionally, she chairs the OECD’s Round Table for Sustainable Development and Grønnegårdsteatret. Her expertise is further recognized through her membership on the boards of the European Climate Foundation, Danfoss, Kirkbi Holding, BBVA, and the Villum Foundation.

In her political career, Connie Hedegaard made significant contributions as the European Commissioner for Climate from 2010 to 2014. Prior to that, she held the positions of Minister for Environment and Minister for Climate and Energy in Denmark from 2004 to 2009, and Minister for Nordic Cooperation between 2005 and 2007. She was also an active member of the Danish Parliament representing the Conservative People’s Party during two terms, from 1984 to 1990 and 2007 to 2009.

Her professional journey includes notable roles in media and journalism, such as Chair of the Board of the Public Service Board in Denmark (2015-2016), anchor for DR’s current affairs magazine “Deadline” (1998-2004), columnist at Politiken (1998-2004), Head of DR Radio News (1994-1998), and journalist at Berlingske Tidende (1990-1994). These diverse experiences underscore her broad expertise and commitment to public service and communication.
