Ms Elina Roine is a finance professional with a 25-year career in banking, investment finance and leadership both in Europe and outside. She is currently heading the Operations Support Department in the Operations Directorate, the financing function of the European Investment Bank, the largest multilateral financial institution in the world.
Before assuming her current role, Elina established and ran the Climate Office of the EIB’s front-line services, tasked to mainstream climate agenda in the Bank’s financing activities. While she continues spearheading the EIB’s transition to the EU Climate Bank, Elina is now also leading the Bank’s digital transformation journey for the front-line among her other responsibilities around business support.
Elina joined the EIB in 2006 as a senior banker covering the German markets. She later headed the Bank’s lending division for Germany and went on to lead the EIB’s Corporate Financing team for Central and Northern Europe.
After starting her Banking career in the Nordea Group in risk management and international banking, Elina joined the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and their Financial Institutions business group in London in 2001, covering several markets in and outside Europe and products from senior debt to trade finance and equity.
Elina holds a master’s degree in political sciences and economics from the University of Helsinki and a post-graduate master’s degree in advanced international studies from the Vienna School of International Studies/the University of Vienna.
